Bath Blue – Print
Bath Blue – Watercolour (Print)
Cheese has always held a special place in my heart. I spent seven glorious years as a cheesemonger in fine food shops in Ottawa, Ontario, and even for a time in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Those years shaped my appreciation for craftsmanship, flavour, and the beauty found in everyday indulgences.
This watercolour painting was inspired by the word prompt “Bath,” and I immediately knew I had to paint one of my favourites: Bath Blue from England. An award-winning cheese made from pasteurized cow’s milk, Bath Blue is semi-firm, creamy, and velvety, with a mellow buttery richness, a distinct tang, and a gentle earthy blue finish. It looks bold and powerful, yet its flavour is beautifully balanced — mild to medium and incredibly approachable.
In this piece, I focused on capturing the marbled blue veining, the soft golden interior, and the subtle textures that make this cheese so visually irresistible. The cool shadows ground the wedges while allowing the creamy warmth of the cheese to glow against the white space.
This print is perfect for cheese lovers, foodies, kitchen spaces, or anyone who appreciates the artistry of fine food. It’s a celebration of flavour, memory, and the simple joy of something crafted with care.
Bring a little indulgence to your walls. 🧀✨
